My friend Bridget gets my thanks for a reminder about referrals and thank yous. When I opened my mailbox this morning to find a big old box for ME from Bridget, I was like… what could she possibly be sending me? Then I opened it and found a Starbucks mug (that’s been personalized with a THANK YOU SONY) and bag o’ coffee (Yum! – She knows me so very very well!) and a thank you note for the referral that I’d TOTALLY forgotten about!
So immediately, I thought… how can I tell more people about how Bridget helped?
Then I’m all… how can I make this into a lesson? Because honestly, I’m not telling you about her because she thanked me… that was just the reminder that I needed to tell you about her. That’s what the thank you is about… just a trigger. I referred her without even thinking that she had a “referral incentive program”… she’s a lawyer, how many lawyers do you know that THANK you for the referral?
So, in your business, do you have a trigger to remind people to refer you? One thing you can do is use a monthly newseletter or www.TheWorldsMostInterestingPostcard.com or even a little thank you gift.
Here’s the other thing, every time I use that mug, I’ll think… who can I tell about Bridget today?
What do you do to remind people to refer you?
Sony
(BTW, if you need a lawyer to help with short sales in Florida, she’s my pick!)
